Overview

Under the direction of the Supervisor of Recreation and Facilities, the Aquatics Supervisors are responsible for ensuring the safe and effective operation of the SWM swimming pool. This includes preventing emergencies, responding quickly and effectively when emergencies occur, and providing instruction for all programs offered at the facility. The Aquatics Supervisor will also be tasked with the following responsibilities:
Key Responsibilities:
•Administer and supervise the operations of the Glencoe Pool, including overseeing aquatics staff and managing programs offered at the facility.
•Actively participate in programming at the Glencoe Pool, such as swim lessons, facility rentals, and drop-in recreational programming.
•Perform routine maintenance duties to ensure the facility remains clean and safe for all patrons.
•Secure the facility after programs have concluded to ensure safety and security.
•Maintain positive public relations by handling public inquiries efficiently and educating the community about programs offered by the Municipality of Southwest Middlesex.
•Ensure effective communication with staff and supervisors to maintain a coordinated and efficient working environment.
•Coach and mentor aquatic staff, providing guidance and support to ensure their professional development.
•Uphold high standards of safety supervision, monitoring staff and patrons to ensure adherence to Southwest Middlesex policies and Ontario regulations. Report any deficiencies in a timely manner.
•Make critical safety-related decisions, including determining when to close the pool due to safety concerns or adverse conditions.

Qualifications

•Must be 18 years of age and legally eligible to work in Canada
•Minimum of 2 years of lifeguarding and aquatics instructing experience
•Valid Standard First Aid and CPR (C) (or willingness to obtain)
•Valid National Lifesaving Society Swim Instructor (SI)
•Valid National Lifesaving Society Life Saving Instructor (LSI)
•Current National Lifeguard
•Satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Background Check
•Experience with aquatic chemistry and mechanics will be considered an asset
•Experience working in programming with children and adults will be considered an asset
•Leadership and supervisory experience will be considered an asset
