Revitalizing an Important Community Gathering Space

Led by the Glencoe & District Lions Club, the Project 2000 Revitalization Campaign is focused on refreshing and improving the Project 2000 pavilion and washroom facility at the Southwest Middlesex Recreation Centre in Glencoe. The Municipality of Southwest Middlesex is proud to partner with the Lions Club by providing administrative and fundraising support for the initiative.

Originally constructed by the Glencoe & District Lions Club in 2000 through significant community fundraising efforts, the facility has served residents, sports organizations, tournaments, and community events for more than 25 years.

Today, the Lions Club and Municipality are once again working together to revitalize this important community asset so it can continue serving residents and visitors for years to come.

Project Overview

The revitalization project includes significant upgrades and improvements to the pavilion and washroom facilities, including:

  • New accessible washroom partitions
  • Accessible counters, sinks, and faucets
  • Automatic flush valves and touchless fixtures
  • New entrance doors and hardware
  • Interior and exterior painting
  • General repairs and maintenance improvements
  • Overall beautification and refresh of the facility

As part of this renewed community partnership, the Glencoe District Lions Club has committed a lead contribution of $20,000 toward the project.

Community Impact

The revitalized facility will continue to support:

  • Local recreation programming
  • Community events and gatherings
  • Minor sports and tournaments
  • Regional tourism and visitation opportunities

The project is being completed in advance of upcoming high-profile fastball tournaments expected to be hosted in the community over the next several years. These events are anticipated to welcome approximately 3,000–5,000 visitors annually to Southwest Middlesex and provide an important opportunity to showcase the community to players, families, and visitors from across the region.

The Municipality of Southwest Middlesex, in partnership with the Glencoe District Lions Club, is proud to continue investing in facilities and recreation amenities that support community growth, tourism, and quality of life.

The Municipality has also entered into a service agreement for operation of the booth facility, ensuring it will once again be open and actively used to provide service and amenities to the community this season.

Sponsorship & Donation Opportunities

Community support is an important part of this initiative. The Municipality of Southwest Middlesex and the Glencoe District Lions Club are currently seeking partnerships with local businesses, organizations, community groups, families, and residents interested in supporting the project.

Every contribution - large or small - will help support recreation, community events, tourism opportunities, and the continued revitalization of this important community asset and surrounding recreation area for years to come.
