Overview

Under the direction of the Facilities & Recreation Manager, the Aquatics Supervisor, and Assistant Supervisor(s), Lifeguard-Instructors are responsible for ensuring the safe and effective operation of the SWM swimming pool. This role involves preventing emergencies, responding swiftly and effectively when emergencies occur, and providing instruction for all programs offered at the facility. Lifeguard-Instructors will contribute to the overall success and safety of the facility and its programs and will be tasked with the following responsibilities:
Key Responsibilities:
•Collaborate with the Aquatics Supervisor to plan, organize, and implement various aquatics programs.
•Assist with organizing special events throughout the season, such as early registration nights, swim meets, and examinations.
•Maintain accurate and complete records for swim lessons, including lesson plans and report cards.
•Communicate proactively with children and address any concerns or issues that arise.
•Create and issue report cards at the conclusion of each swim lesson session.
•Be prepared to respond to emergency first-aid situations and administer appropriate care when necessary.
•Foster positive public relations by providing excellent customer service and ensuring a welcoming, safe environment for all patrons.
•Perform daily and weekly cleaning duties to maintain cleanliness and safety within the facility, including the building, pool area, splash pad decks, and surrounding sidewalks.

Qualifications

•Must be 16 years of age and legally eligible to work in Canada
•At least one season experience as a lifeguard/instructor at an aquatic facility.
•Valid Standard First Aid and CPR (C) (or willingness to obtain)
•Valid National Lifesaving Society Swim Instructor (SI)
•Current National Lifeguard
•Satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Background Check (18+)
•Experience working in programming with children and adults will be considered an asset
