Province Invests $4.3 Million in Critical Stormwater Infrastructure to Protect Homes and Support Climate Resilience

Glencoe, ON- The Municipality of Southwest Middlesex has secured up to $4,296,050 in provincial funding through the Municipal Housing Infrastructure Program -  Health and Safety Water Stream to support the Glencoe Outlet Drain Stormwater Conveyance Improvement Project.

This investment will deliver 1.25 kilometres of new storm sewer infrastructure to strengthen Glencoe’s drainage system, reduce flood risk during increasingly severe weather events, and provide enhanced protection for local homes, roads, and neighbourhoods. The project will significantly improve the community’s long-term climate resilience while supporting future growth and development.

With a total eligible project cost of $5.88 million, the Municipality and County will contribute approximately 27% toward this critical infrastructure improvement.

Construction is anticipated to begin in March 2027, with completion expected by September 2028. A public open house will be held in spring 2026 to provide residents with project details and timelines.

This investment represents a significant step forward in protecting our community and supporting long- term growth.
