Municipality of Southwest Middlesex

2026 Municipal Election

Municipal Elections Act, 1996 (s. 32)

Notice is hereby given to the Municipal Electors of the Municipality of Southwest Middlesex.

Nominations for the Municipality of Southwest Middlesex will be accepted for the offices of:

  • Mayor                         One (1) position to be elected at large
  • Deputy Mayor            One (1) position to be elected at large
  • Councillor                  Six (6) positions (Two for each of the three wards)

Candidates for the above offices, must submit a signed Nomination Paper (Form 1) in person or via agent to the Clerk’s office during business hours (8:30 – 4:30 p.m.) from the first business day in May 2026 until 2:00 p.m. on August 21, 2026 (Nomination Day). 

The nomination must include Endorsements of Nominations (Form 2) signed by at least 25 eligible voter endorsements and be accompanied by the prescribed filing fee: $200.00 for Mayor and $100.00 for all other positions. Full details on the procedures to be followed may be obtained from the Clerk.

  • School Board Trustee, French Separate – Conseil Scolaire Catholique Providence - One (1) member to be elected to represent the combined geographic area of the Counties of Middlesex and Elgin and the County of Oxford. Electors are hereby given notice that if a greater number of candidates are certified than are required to fill the offices, an election will be held and voting will be conducted by telephone/internet voting method. 

The Voting period will commence on October 19, 2026 at 9:00 a.m. and run to October 26, 2026. Voting day is October 26, 2026 beginning at 8:30 a.m. and closing at 8:00 p.m.
