The judging in Southwest Middlesex for the 2008 Provincial Communities In
Bloom competition took place July 30 & 31, 2008. The results of the judging
were revealed at the annual conference held
September 13, 2008 in Gravenhurst, ON. See results below.
For 2009, Southwest
Middlesex is entering the 'Community Showcase' division of Ontario
Communities in Bloom. This is a new venture for us and we look forward
to participating.

The municipality is judged based on their efforts in management planning,
maintenance, improvement and innovation of the following:
1. Tidiness Effort
2. Environmental Awareness
3. Community Involvement
4. Natural And Architectural Heritage Conservation
5. Urban Forestry
6. Landscaped Areas
7. Floral Displays
8. Turf and Ground Cover Areas

is our progress since we started in the Communities in Bloom program!
2004
3 blooms out of a possible 5 blooms
2005
4 blooms out of a possible 5 blooms plus top honour awards in
the areas of Most Improved and Floral Displays.
2006
5 blooms out of a possible 5 blooms plus the Communities in
Bloom committee were awarded special mention for the positive impact that
their efforts have had on the community; as well, the Environmental Award
was proudly given to the community.
2007
5 blooms out of a possible 5 blooms in 2007 plus the
Communities in Bloom committee received the Tidiness Award.
2008
5 blooms out of a possible 5 blooms in 2008 plus the
Communities in Bloom committee received the Urban Forest Management award.

Sponsorship of the SWM
Hanging Flower Basket Program is a great way to give recognition to a
special someone throughout the growing season. When you sponsor a basket for
$65.00, the name of the sponsor is shown beside the basket and you or the
person you specify will receive an income tax receipt for the full support
amount.
